The Toyota Corolla (base MSRP: $16,900) comes with standard LED headlights. They glow a brilliant blue and look fantastic, especially at night. This render doesn't do them justice:
The Mercedes Benz GL450 (base MSRP: $65,200) comes standard with halogen projector beams. Bi-xenons are a $1,360 option.
There's a price at which halogen headlights look ridiculous, and I think $65k is well above that price. Can you imagine rolling up to your private jet and sullying it with muddy, yellow halogen light? GTFO.
All praise to the lowly Corolla for sporting some seriously advanced eyewear.

They're not 'seriously advanced eyewear'...they blind other drivers, just like all the new Acuras with LED headlights.
Or maybe I'm just a grumpy old man of a 20 year old.

Blue headlights at night
Looking fantastic
I think headlights should be mandatory 6500K. Blue is awful, and there's no point in choosing a warmer color temperature for main beams; leave that to fogs.
I do agree that it's ridiculous to be saddled with ancient halogens at $65,000.

Bruh, the fact that you don't like them has no bearing on whether they're advanced. I'd say LED main beams are pretty "advanced" in the sense that they hit the market in what, the past two years? And name me another car you can buy with hubcaps and LED main beams, instead of that fugazi LED running light crapola everyone copied from Audi.

I don't think they're advanced because they basically produce the same light as a cheap Chinese H.I.D kit.
In my opinion, a halogen in a projector for a compact is more advanced, because that combination stands to benefit the driver without impacting the vision of others, and not all compact/cheap cars have them.

I saw a new Corolla the other day, and I thought it looked pretty good. Better than a Civic or Focus sedan, at least.

Uhm, correctly positioned LED headlights shouldn't be blinding you. I've been in front of LEDs. They're fine.

I do respect that Toyota has managed to get this tech into a cheap car, however there are two sides to this story. For long term ownership I would personally choose halogen. Especially Mercedes halogen, because they do a great job with it. If those LED's fail you will probably need to buy a whole headlamp assembly and that will probably total the car when it's 6-7 years old. A lot of those are VIN coded too, which means no used parts. I personally hate driving with blue lights, can't see a damn thing. Mercedes LED's are a bright, crisp white and make it incredibly easy to see even when it's raining at night. live in a very rainy city so that is very important to me.

I’m sorry, but the Corolla headlights look aftermarket.
